What You Should Know About Sensitive Teeth

Posted .

Do you have sensitive teeth? If you do, you probably know that there are a number of things that could cause you discomfort. However, did you know that you may not have to deal with sensitive teeth forever? In fact, there may be a few things you can consider doing to protect your teeth from sensitivity.

First, the simplest thing you can do is to avoid foods that are too hot or too cold. Avoiding hot foods, or letting your food cool down can often prevent discomfort if your teeth are sensitive. Similarly, you should consider staying away from cold and frozen foods. Sugary foods, highly acid foods, and spicy foods can all cause discomfort. More specifically, you may want to avoid foods and drinks issues such as apples, wine, pineapples, soft drinks and grapefruit.

There are things you can do to avoid and reverse sensitive teeth. If you visit our dentist once every six months, we can help you prevent—and if necessary, reverse—the issue. Similarly, we recommend brushing twice a day for two minutes at a time and to floss your pearly whites daily. You might also be able to fight off tooth sensitivity by using over-the-counter, desensitizing toothpaste.

Our team can also offer you more specific advice tailored to your needs.
